Copy Right
Copy right its legal protection of authors work and materials, most often the copy right law is being used for books, music, videos, photographs etc.

Most Copy right activities: buying and selling rights: the most legal cases against offenders is the business which cost many millions every single year
the copy right holder or the author of materials who has the copyright protection has the right to ensure that his/her work it’s not being copied by anyone who doesn’t have any permission from the author, also there is a fair use for e.g. schools, universities, colleges are only allowed to copy some of the authors material only 1% if the schools wants to copy some more of the authors materials , they need to contact with the author of the work and ask them for the permission.

Software Licensing
When the user wants to purchase the software or already got purchased the software, he will only get the license to use.
When the user open the package of the software this call ‘’shrink license use’’ it means that he agree with the software.
if the user got a single license he will be only be able to install the software only on one computer at the house. If he wants to install the software more than one computer he will have to purchase another license for the second computer.

Some software can allow the user to get one other copy for the backing up the work.
There is different types of license such as:
Multi user license: which can be used by a group of people
Site license: Can be used on all the computers and laptops on one internet website for e.g. college
Academic License: its for the teachers and students which is usually are most often a single user
Education license: are available to all the schools, universities and colleges which is very cheap and is multi user

There are other types of systems such as:
Shareware: where the user will have to pay for the different types of updates, sometimes the user can get some limited time offer or limited time free usage , also the user are able to get some support.
Freeware: this system it doesn’t cost anything, so its free and can be used on all computers with out any problems
Charity ware: it’s a donation of charity which can encourage people to use it and donate to the charities via this system

Post card ware: the user are able to send the postcards which can be sometimes free and sometimes can cost some money , but the user can send the postcard to the author
Free software movement: it encourages the free ware users
Piracy

Piracy
It’s a copying of the software with out having or needed license . for e.g. multi business such as in far east e.g. all the graphical programs can cost up to 6,000£ , but in pirate copy they can only cost 5£
The video games especially on CD disc became very popular in United kingdom and United States , the internet and CD-R had made a very easy process to be able to download and copy some of the systems and software.
Copy protection
the copy protection most often is being base on serial no. and legal protection ( copyright law )
here is some more advanced:
· Dongles such as internet dongles, usb Dongles etc
· The electronic copy protection for e.g. code scrambler
· Regionalization e.g. DVD
Problems
Here is the problems of the system problems which can show up while the user is using the software:
- copyright act: legal mine field
- Serial nom: website specializing in publishing serial numbers on such as popular software
- Dongles: the reversed engineering device
- copyright act: legal mine field
- Serial nom: website specializing in publishing serial numbers on such as popular software
- Dongles: the reversed engineering device
- Electronic methods : can be broken with in hours of being published
- Regionalization- a lot of code breakers are usually available everywhere.
Conclusionusually the software piracy will remain the main problem also the internet and CD-R are also the problem.
Also the piracy do keep their prices very high for the software, so it can cost a lot to purchase a license software from the piracy, also this will encourage the piracy more catch 22
the music and video and games is being increased high which being downloaded from the internet and copied . also it will increase with the advent of DVD-R
